"Men, we have fought through the war together. I have done the best that I could for you."

Robert E. Lee

Welcome

The time is June, 1865.  The war in the east has been over for a couple of months and the men and women of Appomattox Courthouse are trying to cope with that fact and get on with their lives.  However, there is a reminder of the recent conflict stationed within their town.  That reminder is is in the form of company D, 188th Pennsylvania Volunteers.  They have been recently ordered to that area to begin what historians would later term "The Reconstruction".
